WIP Wednesday #5 AKA A Few Things on the Go

So I've been keeping up with other's WIP Wednesday posts but I thought I'd finally link up again. I love taking part and checking out the posts on Tami's Amis. It keeps me motivated to keep working on my projects. Speaking of....

I've been trying to make a quick baby gift for a set of twins my friend just had. First I started a set of car seat blankets but they're taking forever so I've put it to the side for a bit. Then I started a sun hat but it turned out way to small so I put that to the side, I'll finish it and sell it as a premie hat. Now I started a bigger one and it's flying by.

I've slowly been working on this blanket for Corbin. It doesn't take long but I do get bored of making the same squares over and over again. It seems small if I go by the pattern so I have extra yarn that came with my Mary Maxim kit so I'm going to make it longer.

And then if I didn't have enough projects on the go I recieved my first order of 25 chicks for the year, another coming today. Here's the little cuties, the color looks funny because of the heat lamp sorry.

Linking up with Tami's Amis.

Year of Projects Update

So it's been forever since I updated on my YOP progress. So here's the original list:

Finish LG's dress (Finished January 23, 2013)

4 zip up the back hoodies (1 boy and 3 girls), I give them as baby gifts (Finished one girl's in April 2013)

Mary Maxim's brights entrelac blanket for Corbin (half done)

Mary Maxim's bavarian lullaby throw as a wedding gift for my best friend and her fiancé (haven't started)

8 knitted stockings (done 3 1/2)

2 hat, mitten and bootie sets for my friends soon to be twins. She had twins and bought some splash boots from me so I'm making the two little girls matching sun hats.

One of those swirl scarves for myself

Finish the cardigan I started for myself last year

Car seat blanket for Corbin

So far I haven't added anything to the list but I'm sure that'll change :)

Long Time No Type AKA Lots of Catching up to Do....

Just a pre-warning this is a very picture heavy post, even for me.

So I know it's been forever since I posted but I swear I have very good reasons for that. Reason number one is this little guy. I'm pleased to introduce you to my new son, CR. He's been very stubborn this one already. He tried to come at 35 1/2 weeks and then they tried to induce me at 40 weeks with no success and then finally they induced me again at 41 weeks and 15 hours later here he was.
His big sister EJ is totally in love. She's still thinks there's a baby in my tummy though lol. She's learning how to be gentle and quiet with him.
Here's the whole family at the hospital the day I had him. Of course I have no make up on and my hair is a mess so please excuse my appearance.
This is what we call CR's scrunch face, he often looks like a little grumpy old man. Very cute and very much like my Dad. So he's probably going to look allot like his Grandpa when he's older :)
And on the crochet front I've been busy. I was ordered to relax more after our scare at 35 1/2 weeks so that meant lots of knitting and crochet time. So I have his baby blanket almost done (no picture), finished one order of three stockings (no picture), knit a baby sweater for a friend (no picture) and made  CR some baby hats a boy's and a girl's as we didn't know what we didn't know which we were having (no picture). The girls hat matches this one I made EJ, my first attempt at coming up with a pattern off the top of my head, I think it turned out pretty cute. She loves it, even puts it on all by herself.
Then I became obsessed with this splash boot pattern from a designer on etsy called the Lovely Crow. They are so adorable and everyone seems to love them.
My backdrop for all these photos is a t-shirt I got from Vistaprint with my logo on it. Works pretty good. Then I made a couple pairs of these boot cuffs but I only have a picture of one.
So hopefully someone is still reading this blog and hopefully I'll be able to post more often now.

WIP Wednesday #3 and YOP all in one

So this week I started a hat and beard combination for my little cousin. He requested it for his school's career day. He's absolutely obsessed with A&E's Duck Dynasty and has decided that's who he's dressing up as. So he's requested a camo hat with a really long beard attached. I'm actually excited and the hat's been going pretty quick. I will for sure have the hat done by Friday not sure about the beard though.

And in YOP news I finally finished the first item on my list.

LG's dress is finally finished. Unfortunately my gauge was off just enough that I think it's a size bigger than I meant to make it. So it doesn't fit right now but we have a few events she can wear it to in the spring. I've got to get better at measuring gauge obviously.

Last night I meant to a meeting for our local Farmer's Market which my great-aunt participates in as well and she brought me a present.

It was a bag full of yarn she told me that she couldn't use anymore. She's getting arthritis really bad in her hands and is slowing down on her knitting. She's in her 80's and very stubborn about these things so I was really surprised. I didn't get a chance to go through it last night so I did this morning. It wasn't just yarn there's also a small loom in there as well. I love all the yarn, perfect for baby projects. The white one in the middle made me laugh though. It's so old the name brand on the label is just 'Acrylic'.
It's pretty scratchy so that one might not get used but she said it wouldn't hurt her feelings if I had to throw any of it away. I have a few projects in mind for it and some even work into my YOP list.

So I have finished 1/21 items on my YOP list, that's a little intimidating. But I'm going to do my best, I have 11 months left :)
So go on over to the Ravelry group to check out everyone's YOP progress and over to Tami's Amis to see everyone else's WIPs.

WIP Wednesday #3 aka This Dress will Never End

Well it's Wednesday again which means WIP's well the same WIP to be exact. LG's dress is still not done. I've started on the yoke and have it half finished but I started on it last Friday. I'm hoping that between the next few days I can have it finished so I can finally do my first FO Friday at Tami's. Anyways here's what the yoke looks like right now with a horrible photo. It's too dark here this time of morning to get a better picture, sorry.
I'm thinking my gauge might also be off a bit, this dress seems gianormous. But we will have to see when it's done. It might not fit her for a while but its better to be too big than too small.

And in other WIP news, remember that huge pile of totes and bins I had sitting around?.....

Well my DH built my a beautiful shelf in our bedroom to hold my scrapbooking stuff so here it is starting to be filled.
I didn't realize I had so much stuff 'til I started putting it on here. I'm not even half done. Not sure how I'm going to fit it all in. I'll post a picture when it's all full up.

And in LG news heres a picture of her and my Dad watching Toopy & Bino
It's kind of funny to see my Dad as a grandparent. He's much different with her than he was with us. He wasn't much for sitting and watching cartoons with us but he seems pretty into it now. But that's ok, I don't mind at all because LG's going to have some awesome memories with him. (not that mine are bad) Bonus I just noticed if you look really hard at the reflection my Grandma is knitting in her chair :)

So that's all of my news for today. Don't forget to hop on over to Tami's Amis to check out the other WIP posts.
PS. Thanks everyone for the nice comments on my belly & LG pictures. Definitely made me feel the love. <3

WIP Wednesday #2 and update on my YOP

It's the middle of a very busy week for sure. I haven't got a lot of knitting done but I did do two small crochet projects that I of course forgot to take a picture of. I gave away a simple crocheted toque and felt bad that it was so plain. So I made the little girl it was going to two button on flowers. They were fast and turned out great. Might have to make something like this for the shop.

But more on that another day.

Here's my WIP for today, knitwise anyway.

It's the first sleeve for LG's dress. It's about half done, then just the other side and I can start on the pretty pattern of the yoke. I got asked for a link for the pattern so here it is:

This is the first item off of my YOP list that I'm going to finish and then I have to decide what to start on next. I think I should get some of my stockings knocked off as I've gotten about three more requests for them.

I've been working on knitting related stuff but not actually knitting. Here's what all of my supplies looked like right now.

LG's going to be moving into our spare room to make the nursery available for Baby#2 so I have to move all of my supplies out of what is my spare room. So everything is getting packed up and moving under my bed or in a corner of my room. Sorry for the dark photo, my Iphone didn't like the natural light (the little bit we've got today) apparently.

And in WIP news, here's the first belly picture to be on this blog.

Believe it or not I have four and half months to go. I swear I'm going to burst already. I was huge with LG, my DH is fairly tall with long arms and he could barely wrap his arms around me when we were in the hospital delivering LG. I'll try to keep you posted on the belly :D

And of course LG was helping me organize the spare room in her own way.

I love her PJ's and want a pair for myself. They're very soft and warm. Plus only $7 at our local Walmart.

Check out the other WIP's over at Tami's Ami's

A Year of Projects 2013

So I've read quite a few blogs that talk about this Year of Projects. You simply make a list of projects you want to finish over the year and then blog about it. I found the group on Ravelry and decided this would be a good way to make myself blog every week for sure. So I'm going to start my year now and finish it January 2014. I'm very excited to see how many of the projects I pick will get finished.

So here's my list:

Finish LG's dress.

4 zip up the back hoodies (1 boy and 3 girls), I give them as baby gifts.

Mary Maxim's brights entrelac blanket for baby #2

Mary Maxim's bavarian lullaby throw as a wedding gift for my best friend and her fiancé

8 knitted stockings

2 hat, mitten and bootie sets for my friends soon to be twins

One of those swirl scarves for myself

Finish the cardigan I started for myself last year

Car seat blanket for baby #2

So crazy upon crazy that's 20 projects. Wow I hope I can do this.
